Taking a Page from the Past

So, it’s no secret. I’m in a funk! The heat isn’t helping my mood either. My schedule which used to be crazy busy has died to complete boredom, coming straight home from work and not leaving the house until the next morning for work. I’m isolating myself and that’s certainly not helping the whole dating scene. I no longer have any stories to tell and after talking with Suz about this, I told myself I needed to get out so that I have opportunities for some more Boston stories. So, in an effort to change the way I walk the path, I turned back the clocks to the summer of 2009 (to the summer I first moved to Boston and didn’t know anyone) and I did what I did back then… I walked the city. Today was B-E-A-U-TIFUL day. No humidity and it felt fall like. So refreshing. If everyday during the summer months could be like this, I’d be so happy! It was so nice to walk around and not sweat! For 2.5 hours, I took a walk down memory lane. Walking up Boylston Street (but avoiding the mattress store), crossing over to Newbury Street, through the Public Gardens, crossing through the Commons and went into Macy’s. On the way back I stopped by Pinkberry and redeemed my coupon for 2 take home size frozen yogurts and settled in for the night, watching It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia: A Very Sunny Christmas. Don’t worry, I didn’t eat the entire 25 ounce container of frozen yogurt. I only managed to eat 2 cups worth of coconut frozen yogurt with some chocolate chips, didn't get to the original with mochi!

When I snapped the photos in the Garden, I felt at peace. I used to walk through here everyday after work on the way to my Fenway apartment, often coming on the weekends to read on one of the benches by one of the many fountains. I sometimes wish I still lived in Boston where I could easily walk from one end to the other, instead of having to hop on the T to get me home in Brookline. This is the first time I’ve been to the Gardens and seeing tropical plants; it made me feel a little homesick with palm trees and hibiscus flowers.
