Vacationland

Me @ Portland Head Light

Up in Maine this weekend. Hit up Cape Elizabeth State Beach for some sun. My swimsuit (same one I've had since 2004) still fit, just a wee bit too small on the top. I put on sunscreen, but I swear I'm more like a vampire. Vampires burn into dust when the sun hits them. I burn when the sun hits me. I was at the beach for 4 hours and reapplied sunscreen, but still ended up quite burned. I only regret not packing my aloe (which I nearly grabbed but then said, "nah, I'll be good and reapply sunscreen" which I did!!). I also go to see this lighthouse at Fort Williams, Portland Head Light. I do believe this is the first lighthouse I've ever been to (reminding me of Pete's Dragon). When I was traveling I missed seeing a lighthouse while in Maine, so this was cool. I also got to feed some deer and say a lightning bug!!! It was flying in the house and it's been ages since I saw any. So that was super cool! One more day in Vacationland before going back into the city.

I also got a call while at the beach from the luggage delivery company. My suitcase is in BOSTON!! However, they wouldn't deliver it up here in Maine, so I had found someone in the city who has a key to my apartment to wait for it. I called them to see when to expect it and they said since there were a lot that they wouldn't get to Brookline until later in the day, but before 8pm. So my friend who was waiting around my apartment since 3pm called at 8 saying nothing yet, so I contacted a neighbor and arranged for her to get a key to my apartment so my friend could go home. It's 11:30 and still no bag! Unbelievable. They better not just drop it off b/c I'll be pissed if they leave it and someone in the neighborhood take my bag since the delivery guy can't get into the secured door. I just can't wait to get back and go through my belongings and get unpacked like I planned to when I returned Monday from Scotland, and maybe my nightmare will end and life will be all good again.
