Today was an odd day. In spin class we listened to amazing music and found myself smiling and singing along. I love music and do not get a chance to listen to music now that my iPod is broken and I don't have a car. When I had a car, that's where I would listen to new music. Now, I listen to music in the gym classes I take or when watching Glee, lol. While wasting time at work, I was deleting emails in one of my email accounts and found myself looking at the travel emails for trips to the southern hemisphere. I am so itchin' to go on a trip. Which got me thinking about my travel scrapbooks that I started doing when I first got bit by the travel bug in 2007 when I started going on monthly trips. Then, avoiding the State of the Union address that is on every channel, I turned on Qubo and see Rescue Heroes which takes me back to when I babysat the boys who just loved them- we would spend hours playing with the Rescue Heroes figurines and accessories. Which made me think of Fallbrook and all the avocado groves. Funny thing is, I didn't like avocados until after I became a vegetarian and my best friend served them. From then on, I have put them on pizza, lettuce, sandwiches, burritos and even mashed them into homemade guacamole. I bought a bag of 4 avocados last Wednesday and they were hard as a rock. I even had 2 of them in a brown bag with an apple in hopes of speeding up the ripening process. Well, tonight I was finally able to cut into one for dinner. Oh how I miss being able to get a basketful for free or go to the store and grab a few ripe ones for a $1. However, since there are no avocado groves here, I have to be patient... and it was worth the wait...the avocado was oh so tasty!
This started as a 365 day-by-day blog of my life in Boston as a 2nd year transplant from May 2010- May 2011. I continued into my 3rd year before one of my New Year's Resolutions was to make something new each week. So I blogged about my dishes with photos. Now, another resolution has brought me back to blogging. In March 2014 I plan on spending only $45 which can only go towards food/beverages. Stay tuned to see how I do.
