Opening Day

Today was the home opener for the Sox. Going in 0-6 they ended up winning their first game of the season against none other than the NY Yankees. I wish I had my camera when the jets did their fly over before the game b/c they flew right over HMS. It was awesome! No one did much work today, I even watched the game on my computer thanks to Harvard TV. I was told today by a friend's husband that I'm a fair-weather fan and that it's very clear that I'm not from here. I didn't quite understand that until I was watching "Fever Pitch". A movie I've seen many times and have made it sort of a ritual since moving to Boston. Ever since moving into my Fenway apartment in the summer of 2008, I have watched "Fever Pitch" at least once every baseball season, often before I physically go to a game. I guess I can dust off my Buchholz shirt and wear it to Sunday's game. I'm so excited. Baseball season always reminds me of the boy I thought I'd marry in San Diego and laugh every time I watch "Fever Pitch" b/c he was in many ways like Fallon's character and I, at times, felt like Barrymore. I'm sure there are boys in Boston like this, but I, for whatever reason, have not found them. Maybe it's for the best, but watching that movie really got me excited for baseball season (don't tell that ex) and made me happy that I live in Boston.
