Back into Time

Well darn! The photo I wanted to use isn't on my camera for some reason and that totally throws off what I was going to write about...well, sorta...I'm going to tell you about it anyway. Vanderbilt Hall, where the students of Harvard Medical School live. I got a peak into their courtyard the other day and it was like walking back into time. The photo I wanted to show was of these iron curlicue things that were on the sides of the doorsteps of nearly all doors in the courtyard. Apparently, they are boot scrapers for you to scrape the snow, ice, mud, etc. off your shoes so not to track the elements into the building. Of course, I would never have guessed what they were and was glad my coworker was with me so I could ask. I thought perhaps it was to tie horses onto, except they were to low to the ground. I was really excited to get a photo of them b/c I was quite interested in knowing what they were and wanted to share with those who might not run into something like this. So, because the camera didn't save the original photo, the above photo was also taken in the courtyard and I loved the lamps on the outer walls. It was here that I felt like I stepped back into time and witnessed a historical-like place not too many people get to see.
