Crossing the River

What a day. I woke up at 9:30 and was out of the house by 10am, the earliest I've been up, dressed or out of the apartment in weeks. I had a play date at Frog Pond for some ice skating and had to change the time to the morning b/c of the expected rain that was supposed to roll in this afternoon. We ice skated for about a half hour and it wasn't too crowded which was nice. We then crossed over the frozen Charles River to Cambridge for lunch in Harvard Sq. I had Thai food (I think I've only had Thai once or twice before) and I think I'm a fan of curry. I might have to try a Thai place near me and see if it's any good b/c I might change my go-to Asian cuisine to curry instead of lo mein noodles.

Since I was over in Cambridge, I tried to see who (of the friends on that side of the river) were around. Took advantage of the Harvard Coop to browse the books and read a bit before I got a call from one of my friends (who knows I hate being on that side of the river) and met him for tea before he had to go back to studying. I figure I might as well take advantage of being over there, and have to admit that I felt a little more at ease being accompanied by a guy while over there. Usually when I am there, I beeline it to the Arcade and beeline it back to the T to go back home, but walking around with him, I felt a little more relaxed and was able to kind of see the area differently. For example, I did some people watching and noticed quite a lot of cute boys in that area (yeah, younger, cute, rich college boys) which I don't see on my side of the river. So maybe some of my dislike for that side of the river (and we're talking a tiny bit here) melted away today, but I think this satisfies my bi-monthly "visit Cambridge" quota.

It still wasn't raining when I headed back to my side of the river, so I made a stop back in town and bought some new gym shoes at DSW before walking back in the rain that finally decided to show up. Grocery shopping done, so I'm out of the rain, the icy pavements (where the stupid buildings next to me did less than a half-ass job shoveling before the melting and rain began) and looking forward to listening to music and hopping in the tub for a nice relaxing bubble path.
