Craft Day

Today was craft day at a friend’s house. Us girls gather to work on crafts that we have started or always wanted to do but just never found the time to do it. I have wanted to finish my 2008 travel scrapbook that I have half completed, but opted for something easier to transport, my new calligraphy set. A few weeks ago I made a comment that I wanted to learn calligraphy and after stopping at Borders yesterday and finding a calligraphy set for under $7, I decided no time like the present. So, I read the book and practiced on a few pieces of scrap paper. It was kind of boring doing the regular alphabet letters (but hard to perfect) and must admit that I did jump towards the back of the book and fooled around with some other types of writing. I can see this not lasting as it takes a long time and tons of practice to get perfect and I just get frustrated for not being able to do the pretty letters yet. I think I might check out some other books to see if they have ones with better step-by-step instructions. I’ll be coping some pages out of the book I have so that I can practice tracing letters and see if that helps. I’m not making any promises about being able to do friend’s wedding invitations in a few years, but I am going to try to stick with it and see if I can at least perfect my name. So, over some yummy food and hot homemade mulled cider and some Easter candy sweets, it was a fun day chilling with some friends.
