Somewhere I heard someone say "those who prayed for snow to now pray for it to stop". We are expected to get some more snow tomorrow (but just a dusting in Boston) and rain/snow mix next week too. Numerous roofs are collapsing and I read today the Governor of MA (Deval Patrick) said to look for warning signs of a collapse: "doors sticking or opening on their own b/c jams have come out of line. Leaks, windows jamming, and cracking sounds are other signs". Of course, I'm freaking out b/c I have water damage from the ice buildup on our roof and side of the apartment, which falls under the leaks sign. So far, I can open my windows, but should try tomorrow as I noticed the guy on the 3rd floor has his window completely covered in some sort of plastic. So, my problem isn't as bad as the 3rd floor, but I am thankful I never moved my stuff into that spare room b/c water in the walls will lead to mold and I'm right back to where I was 6 months ago. So, while I do enjoy the snow days and playing in the snow- this was nothing like what I was imagining. I had to take a different walking route to the bus from the gym tonight bc they had guys on top of one of the parking garages pushing the snow off the top onto a truck. So, it's pretty bad, never knew snow and ice and rain (which snow absorbs like a sponge) could cause so much damage. I am going to miss this cold weather and the snow; I must admit that I am not looking forward to summer and the humidity.
This started as a 365 day-by-day blog of my life in Boston as a 2nd year transplant from May 2010- May 2011. I continued into my 3rd year before one of my New Year's Resolutions was to make something new each week. So I blogged about my dishes with photos. Now, another resolution has brought me back to blogging. In March 2014 I plan on spending only $45 which can only go towards food/beverages. Stay tuned to see how I do.
